Overweight Before Age 40 Increases The Cancer Risk

The analysis showed that if you’re overweight before age 40

70 percent for endometrial cancer.

58 per cent for male renal-cell cancer.

29 percentage for prostate cancer.

15 percent for all obesity-related cancers (both genders ).

Obesity Is an established risk factor for many cancers. In this analysis, we have focused on the degree, timing and duration of obesity and overweight in relation to cancer risk,” states Professor Tone Bjørge, in Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, University of Bergen.

Obesity raises risk over time

From the analysis, the researchers included adults with more or two Measurements, before a cancer diagnosis that is potential, and obtained at least three decades apart. Typically, the people were followed for about 18 decades.

Overweight participants (BMI over 30) in the first and second Wellbeing Evaluation had the highest risk of developing obesity-related cancer, compared to participants with normal BMI.

The threat increased by 64 percent for men participants and 48% for females, Bjørge states.

The researchers used data for 220,000 individuals from the Me-Can study, together with participants from Norway, Sweden and Austria.
