Layers of Fear, a psychological horror videogame, was published by Bloober Team and released for Linux, Microsoft Windows, and OS X. It was released worldwide on February 16, 2016. The player assumes the role of an artist returning to his studio. The player is responsible for helping him complete his masterpiece. Puzzles require that the player searches the environment for clues.
Although the house looks simple at first glance, it will change as the player explores it in the first person. These changes provide scaffolding for puzzles and give rise to the frequent jump scares that are common in this genre. There are six chapters in the game with different items that the player must find to complete his work.
You will find objects that reveal certain aspects of the history of the painter in the game. A letter is gradually assembled as you complete the painting. It shows the origin of his masterpiece and contains objects that explain the secrets of the painter through flashbacks.
