Cuphead is a classic run-and-gun game that focuses heavily on boss battles. Cartoons from the 1930s inspired the visuals and audio. They are meticulously made using the same techniques as the era. Traditional hand-drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. You can play as Cuphead (in single-player or a local co-op) and explore strange worlds. Learn new super moves, get new weapons, and uncover hidden secrets as you attempt to repay your debt to the devil.
The game’s artistic, audio, and visual excellence is not the only thing that makes it an incredible masterpiece. But, its gameplay design and gameplay are just as impressive. The game’s art style is a tribute to 1930’s cartoons. The gameplay mechanics are a mix of 90’s side scrollers like Contra, Metal Slug, and Gunstar Heros. While there are some ‘Run and Gun” levels that involve platforming, collecting coins, and shooting/avoiding enemies until you reach the end, the main focus of the game is on boss fights. Each one is very different from the previous one.
Fighting is fair, but it can be punishing if you lose focus or misunderstand how specific attacks work. You will also make the same mistakes repeatedly until the announcer stops announcing the beginning of battles.
