About the Throne of Darkness
Throne of Darkness, a Japanese-themed action-role-playing game, was released by Sierra On-Line in 2001. It is a subsidiary of Vivendi Universal Interactive Publishing. Yamato is a medieval Japan ruled over by the shogun Tsunayoshi and the daimyos from the four clans. Tsunayoshi, the immortal, transforms into Zanshin, the Dark Warlord and unleashes his army to conquer Yamato.
Zanshin’s forces invade Yamato in one night and take the clans by surprise, eventually eradicating them. Zanshin believes that the four daimyos had been killed and recalls his soldiers early, leaving only one daimyo, seven of his retainers, and one daimyo alive. The dawn breaks, and the daimyo decides that he will counterattack. He orders his seven remaining samurai to kill Zanshin to do so.
