The official From Software Steam page published an Elden Ring nugget in a mysterious news posting asking, ” Who Did Crucible Knights Serve?”. It has a brief header image with over 800 comments. It says:

The Crucible Knight is a field boss for one of the Evergaols. A variation of this character can be found in different places throughout the game. Stormhill Castle, Siofra River, and Siofra Aqueduct are all examples. Later, you will find them in the Lyndell or Crumbling Farum Azula areas. I was the one who died in Crumbling Farum Azula.

The Root Resin, Crucible Tree Helm item descriptions reveal that the Crucible Knights were known to have primordial powers from the Great Tree before it became intertwined into Eritrea. It doesn’t matter what this Crucible force was — whether it was an order, a person, or a state, it was very powerful and likely came from the Great Tree.

In the current Lands Between, Crucible Knights are considered a detriment during the events of Elden Ring. Text from the Crucible Knot Talisman reads: “A vestige the crucible primordial life.” It was partially born of devolution and is now considered an impurity.

There are also several Crucible Knight bosses like the Crucible Knight encounter with the Misbegotten Warriors in Redmane Castle and the Tanith’s Knight quest boss (specifically the Volcano Manor Knight), Crucible Knight Ordovis (the boss at Auriza Hero’s Grave) or Crucible Knight Siluria.

This Steam post could be a teaser to Elden RingDLC, related to the Great Tree’s source of power and the Crucible Knights.

It’s hard to know. FromSoft has never posted similar raw lore blurbs to its Steam page. This is the first “news” on the page in almost two months. The last update was a notice about Patch 1.05. It matches, but it’s mostly. An official tweet was sent on July 5. It also includes the question of defeating the knight(s).
