We have waited too long. We’ve spent so much time modding Spider-Man into other games, such as GTA San Andreas, GTA 4 and Skyrim. Now we can finally modify Spider-Man Remastered. We’ll also reskin him to look like someone else.
Mods to transform Spider-Man into Black Cat or Stan Lee are among the first batch. However, neither of these animations have been created yet. This will leave you in an A-pose which is fine for the screenshot memes. However, spider-modding for PC is still in its infancy, with lots of tedious shades filling NexusMods. I like Noir New York’s look. It does more than making everything black and white.
A No HUD Mod will also drop the UI when you press the caps to the lock key. Also, some costume replacements are available. The Symbiote Black Suit mod replaces the Advanced Suit with an outfit we might see in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2. The Miles Morales Suit then replaces it with what appears to be a “remainder model” from when they created a multiplayer game mode.
The most promising tool is the Modding Tools uploaded by Rockstar modder jedijosh920. He says that it “is the foundation for creating and installing mods. It also has an easy-to-use mod file system allowing users to create, share, and install their mods.” You can take that Discord server for Spider-Man modding a spin. You never know, you might make Flying Rats, which transforms all of New York’s pigeons into flying rats.
What’s next? There’s no doubt someone will figure out a way for Peter Parker to get his original face back from the PlayStation 4 game. Maybe a co-op mode, vertigo-inducing camera, and the inevitable nudity. Then, perhaps, they’ll return the favour by turning Spider-Man into CJ of San Andreas. Many mods for the PlayStation version could be used to make Spider-Man more interesting, such as playable villains and multiple Spider-Men. This is something to look forward to.
