Fans are horrified to hear that Halo Infinite has cancelled their split screen co-op.
The development of Halo Infinite has been a difficult road for 343 industries. Fans are furious at the cancellation of a split-screen coop mode promised for the game.
These Halo heads had hoped that things would finally improve for the eagerly awaited FPS title, unveiling Infinite’s new roadmap starting in September.
This revelation has only added to players’ many frustrations and problems with the game.

The new roadmap was announced via a blog and a YouTube video which can be viewed below. It details the plans for Forge Mode’s launch on November 8. Players can create custom maps and share them with the community.
However, the biggest news in the update was that there wouldn’t be a split-screen multiplayer mode. Three hundred forty-three have opted to shift their priorities to other areas.
This explanation didn’t go well with many Halo players on Twitter and forums such as ResetEra. Mocha Joe posted an Xbox Wire post around E3 2019, in which 343 Industries Community Director Brian Jarrard suggested Infinite would bring “the long-awaited return to split-screen support for the series”.
Vico, on the other hand, pointed to a 2017 quote by the current head at 343 Industries, Bonnie Ross, that suggested that the developer would respond to fan dissatisfaction about Halo 5’s lack of split screen in Halo 5 and make it a priority for future releases.
Other users expressed their dismay in straightforward terms. Wolf said: “I love the way they used this game having split-screen as a major positive marketing beat considering how many people were upset Halo 5 didn’t have it…just not to have it anyway.”
Others suggested that 343 may have had a good reason to shift their focus away from the mode. User Xwing said: “I have no doubt their data shows barely anyone plays a split-screen cop (I don’t), but it’s still sad.”
The Infinite roadmap also included details about the game’s forthcoming Season 3, Echoes Within. This will be launched in March 2023 following the Winter update introducing the Forge mode.
