The Nier Automata Mod Church Mod is Now Available with a New Ending
Reddit’s Nei: Automata Church mod was a great way to get rid of a viral video mystery. Now you can go and explore the level yourself. RaiderB, Woeful_Wolf and DevolasRevenge made The Nier Automata Church mod publicly available. This version has a few minor changes to the original.
Half of us thought it was a mod and the other half thought Square Enix was playing a viral marketing trick. It turned out that the Nier Church was the latter. Although the original live stream footage was short, it still showed feats that some modders thought were impossible. This version modifies the ending of the Nexus MODs project by the team behind it.
You can play through the Automata mod and explore a copied city secret like A2 or 9S. Today’s build is a farewell to the July version. It ended in a mini 9S boss rush. It’s a reference Drakengard. You can watch the full Automata run on YouTube if you don’t have the PC version.
The modders noted that there may be more improvements in the future. While I am content with the current version, the Drakengard stuff makes me feel a little emotional. We hope this project sparks more interest in the rough PlayStation 3 game.
A group of modders devised a Reddit trick that left Nuer’s community puzzled. After pretending to be a young player, they discovered a church in . We were met by a series of “but wait, there’s no church” comments. We learned that the church was a clever and entertaining faux.
Even Yosuke Saito, Nier producer, was interested in the ordeal, and joked that it was “something Yoko Taro might do.” Later, Taro even acknowledged the project, but was coy when asked if it was official. This was something Taro would have done, given his sense of humor. While it might not be possible to get attention in other games for a mod, Nier does the trick.
