A new Nintendo console may be on the horizon.
Since the Nintendo Switch was released in 2017, many have been speculating about a new, more powerful version. Although the Switch is a beautiful little device, its portability offers something no other console can offer; it lacks the same firepower as the Xbox HTML5 or Xbox Series.
Metro reported that we might be closer to seeing a powerful new Nintendo console than we thought. Reddit user shared an email that allegedly came from an Nvidia employee. He reportedly sent it via a mailing list and revealed the existence of the Tegra239. It was previously believed that this chip would power Nintendo’s next console.
This is all a bit confusing. A Tegra X1 processor powers the current Switch. A leaker from Nvidia last year claimed that Nintendo would be using a Tegra239 (T239) chip in their next console. Although this chip’s existence was not confirmed then, it appears that it is now possible.
However, the email doesn’t mention Nintendo or any future consoles, so it could just be a coincidence. This information is not officially confirmed, so take it with a big pinch of salt.
