Rockstar Games GTA 6 Hacker Arrested by UK Police
You’ve probably heard that Rockstar Games was a significant hacker attack victim. During this attack, Grand Theft Auto VI development footage was taken and leaked online. According to reports, around 90 clips of development were leaked, along with screenshots and source code. Rockstar has since confirmed that the leaks were accurate and announced that they had not been impacted by any of their projects, despite the disappointment it caused.
Rumors suggested that the attacker was a UK-based teenager who offered to negotiate with Rockstar in a GTA forum. Police have now made an arrest, making it very likely that this rumor is true.
The City of London Police posted on Twitter that they had arrested a 17-year-old suspect in hacking. The City of London Police had arrested a 17-year-old boy in Oxfordshire for hacking suspicions as part of a National Crime Agency-supported investigation (NCCU). He is still in police custody.
Although the arrest is not officially linked to the hack on Rockstar Games, sources claim it is. Matthew Keys, a journalist, tweeted that the arrest was linked to the hack on Rockstar Games. However, sources say that this is true. Keys added that the 17-year-old hacking suspect was taken into custody in Oxfordshire. He is believed to have been connected to a group called “Lapsus$,” which organizes primarily through Telegram channels.
The FBI may have made a statement today, but it is believed that the investigation was done in partnership with them. We will keep an eye out for more details.
