Remake of Legacy Of Kain finally on the horizon
This is the time to be a Legacy of Kain fan. Crystal Dynamics is trying to determine if the remake or revival of Legacy of Kain will happen. A survey was sent out over the weekend to fans. You can complete it.
Rumours of a Soul remake circulated in the summer of 2021. There was a possibility of an unveiling at one of the many big gaming events. It didn’t happen. Square Enix has been struggling with the financial woes of Marvel’s Avengers and trying to reduce the rising costs at its studios. Square Enix sold Crystal Dynamics Montreal, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal in May to Embracer Group. Embracer Group was interested in exploring the games libraries of these three companies for potential future products.
“We further strengthened our development capabilities and IP portfolio and agreed with Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal. This includes Tomb Raider and Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, and the other IPs… We see great potential not only in sequels but also in remakes and remasters as well as spinoffs and transmedia projects throughout the Group.” It seems that we are closer than ever to a return now that Legacy of Kain is in the hands of the developer.
I don’t know much about the series. I wasn’t even born when Blood Omen Legacy of Kain was released. However, the hype online is evident. Yes, it is fun reminding strangers about their mortality. Anyway. “In reality, a hard reboot would likely work well,” stated Resetera. It would be awesome to see them go back to Blood Omen, but I’d instead they just go back to Soul Reaver1. As I sit here, I can imagine a new LOK game made by modern CDs in UE5, and it sounds more amazing than I could have imagined. Keep an eye out for this.
