There are more FFXIV housing coming in Patch 6.3. Here’s what you need to know
Live Letter 74 provided us with a preview of a lot of new content for Final Fantasy XIV with Patch 6.3. It launches on January 10. We summarized all we knew about HTMLXIV Patch6.3. However, one announcement that stood out was about player housing. Director and producer Naoki Yashida presented plans to expand housing in FFXIV towards the end of the Live Letter.
People who are looking for in-game housing will find some relief. FFXIV patch 6.3 will introduce new Wards for all residential areas — The Empyreum and Shirogane as well as Lavender Beds, The Mists and The Goblet. It will include six regular and six subdivisions, totalling 1,800 plots per server. These plots will be sold via the existing housing lottery process. The distribution between private and free plots will be made later.
Many are still struggling to find houses despite recent changes in the housing system and how players buy plots. The lottery system took the pressure off players by getting rid of the first-come-first-served system, but it didn’t solve the housing shortage. These additional wards and subdivisions, as well as plots, will help to alleviate housing demand once Patch 6.3 is released.
The housing lottery runs on a nine-day cycle in which players can draw a number and deposit Gil to secure a plot. If they win, they can claim the plot or get a refund. Although it had some unique difficulties in the initial days of Patch 6.1, it has been running relatively well. Despite this, there have been more housing demand, which will be addressed in the next major patch.
