Portal 2 is a puzzle-platform videogame for first-person that was developed by Valve Corporation. In the single-player campaign, the player assumes the role of Chell.
They can also play as either one of two robots (Atlas or P-Body) in cooperative campaigns or as simple humanoid icons in puzzles that are developed by the community.
The environment can be explored and interacted with by these four characters. The characters can take minimal damage, but they will not survive the severe injury.
Falling onto a solid surface is not punishable, but falling into toxic pools or bottomless pits immediately kills the character. In the single-player game, Chell dies.
The game is retried from the last checkpoint. In the cooperative game, the robot will respawn shortly afterward without completing the puzzle.
Both campaigns have the goal to explore Aperture Science Laboratory, a complex and malleable mechanized maze.
The majority of the game is played in modular test chambers that have clearly defined exits and entrances.
However, there are other parts that take place behind the scenes where it’s less obvious what the objective is.
