Sleeping Dogs: Top Dog Gold Pack gives you many experience points for all types of sleeping dogs. I was gifted this DLC, which made my gameplay much faster and easier. However, there is no DLC that isn’t already included in the game. It just slows down the process of unlocking them. Combining this DLC with the experience DLC will allow you to unlock more than half the perks available in the game.
This is a recommendation because it’s extra, completely unnecessary, but it provides an extra boost for people having trouble with the game or who don’t have the time. If you don’t wish to get that extra edge, don’t buy this. This pack is a big downside to buying all the DLC cheaply. I will never again be able to start a new game and then have to work my way up the ladder. It was great the first time I played the game again.

The only difference in content between the Definitive Edition and the old-gen Sleeping Dogs is the inclusion of DLC. Although I was not impressed by the Nightmare in North Point, which is supernaturally themed, and the Year of the Snake which is police-centric, both are included. These packs, which feel disjointed and don’t form part of the campaign, don’t compare to GTA IV’s The Lost and the Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony, or GTA IV’s The Ballad of Gay Tony in terms of the content, the quality of the characters or the objectives. It’s still cool to have them, though.
The multi-tiered leveling system of Sleeping Dogs: Definitive edition reminded me of something I hadn’t considered since 2012 when I played it. Shen can earn rewards under this experience rubric in three categories: as a police officer, a member of the criminal Triad, and a citizen of Hong Kong. These three categories are often in conflict with each other and each one has its own skills. It’s great fun to dive into this system. I find it fascinating to see Shen grow stronger depending on how I behave.
The story centers on a gang war that threatens the city. The plot is a linear series of missions that are triggered by your visiting changing location markers on the map. This is especially enjoyable due to the sharp combat system. Wei can take on any attack from any angle. He grabs wrists, elbows, and shoulders, and then wrenches foes into new, painful shapes.
