Strand Updates Coming to Destiny 2 in Season 21
Bungie recently posted in its TWAB post that some changes are in store for Strand abilities in Destiny 2. While Bungie is generally pleased with how Strand has performed so far, they plan to implement several modifications during Season 21 to adapt their abilities further.
One of the key modifications made is to the Grapple ability. Since being introduced in Lightfall, Grapple has been somewhat underwhelming when compared with its fellow options in the Strand kit. Now though, its cooldown has been significantly decreased from 105 seconds down to 82 and minimum activations time has also dropped dramatically from 2.5 seconds to just 0.2.
TWAB also mentions an enhancement to Hunter Threaded Spike melee ability that will make its debut this month: an increase of 55% damage versus enemies in PVE mode; increasing projectile range by 30% while slowing the dart’s return speed so players have an easier time catching it; plus you gain energy based on how many enemies your dart hits; lastly it now penetrates Cabal Phalanx shields!
Note that TWAB describes these changes as just being a preview, meaning more updates and adjustments may come to Strand in Destiny 2’s next season. We should see similar updates to other Strand melee abilities that often feel underwhelming in PVE environments compared to subclass options – in particular Warlock Strand melee could use some improvements, like being allowed to start each match with multiple full charges instead of only having access to one charge at once when they spawn in.
