Left 4 Dead, a first-person shooter with a horror component is available. Players control one of four survivors. Characters can jump, run and shoot. The player has two different weapons. Third slot contains a Molotov Cocktail, a bomb that can be thrown to kill zombies in a group or lure them into a certain area. Any object the player holds can be used to push anyone infected around them. A health bar is also included in the game to keep track of each character’s health.
A special feature allows each player to see their health bar, based on colour. This is true even if they are separated by walls. The health bar will appear if the health of a character falls below a certain level. If this happens, it is impossible to move the character until health has been restored. This can only be done by using defibrillators or other characters.
It is then important to get the player into a safe place. If the character the player is using is infected two times and first aid has not been used, the player will eventually die if he is infected a third time.
If the player does not receive assistance in time, he will hang and eventually fall over the edge. Each campaign in the campaign mode is divided into two to five segments. The character’s main goal in the final section is to return to the safehouse at the end, where all weapons and health items are located. The player can choose to either stand up against the infection while waiting to be rescued, or to make their way to the rescue point.
Four-on-four competitive mode is another option. Here, the game has two players, with one controlling the survivor character and the other the infected. It is the same goal, whereby the survivor will try to get as far as the safehouse and attack as many of the infected. The infected will rise as a brand new creature. Infected will use any means to stop survivors from reaching the safe house.
The score is based on the length of time the survivor stayed up, and the number of times the survivor killed an infected. The side that gets the most points is the final winner.
