Gamescom with Major Reveal: Mafia: The Old Country Set for 2025 Release

Gamescom’s Opening Night Live ended with a huge surprise this year—a “just one more thing” reveal that had fans buzzing. The long-awaited return to the Mafia series was unveiled with the announcement of Mafia: The Old Country, set to release in 2025.

The Old Country takes the franchise back to its roots, with a thrilling narrative set in 1900s Sicily, during the very origins of the mafia. Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13—the Take-Two-owned studio developing the game—shared that the game will focus on a deep, linear story with the classic mob movie feel that fans of the franchise have come to love.

Though Baynes kept details to a minimum, he promised more insights will be revealed in December. For now, the trailer hints that players will delve into the origins of organized crime, possibly following the rise of the first-ever mafia don.

The game will be set in a dangerous and unforgiving era, with the series’ hallmark attention to authentic realism and rich storytelling. The critically acclaimed Mafia franchise has been beloved for its immersive worlds and gripping narratives, and Mafia: The Old Country seems poised to continue that tradition.

With the promise of more information soon, fans have plenty to look forward to as Mafia: The Old Country heads towards its 2025 release date.
