Activision recently teased another release date of Call of Duty 2023: Spring 2019.
Over the past 20 years, Activision has released one Call of Duty game every single year; and that trend continues into 2018.
Activision recently unveiled plans to release an annual premium release for their iconic Call of Duty franchise, but few details on what type of game or team will make it have yet been provided. Previous Call of Duty titles left much to be desired when it came to content as well as bugs or glitches; Activision hopes this upcoming “full annual premium release” can rectify that.
Call of Duty has long dominated the charts upon its releases, typically selling millions of copies across Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms. Now there are plans for Call of Duty games to appear on Nintendo Switch consoles; although sources within Nintendo claim otherwise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) was one of the most successful COD games ever produced, earning $1 billion less than 10 days after its debut and quickly rising up the charts to become number 1 even outstripping Elden Ring as game of the year!
Uncertain of its success remains, little information regarding it has been officially released to date other than it being an actual reality – something initially in doubt. Rumors indicate that Sledgehammer Games will lead its development; and further speculation indicates it has some relationship to Modern Warfare series titles.
History suggests that Call of Duty games tend to be announced between May and June with releases occurring later that year – it remains to be seen if this trend will hold true this year, however it makes it likely we could hear something very soon; possibly as early as in a couple weeks!
Activision may find itself preoccupied in dealing with Microsoft’s proposed purchase, which has received significant pushback.
