ICYMI: Pokemon Presents Spotlights Scarlet & Violet’s Paldea Region
The Pokemon Company hosted a new Pokemon Presents showcase today. While Pokemon Scarlet & Violet were the main attraction, other projects such as Pokemon Go, Pokemon Masters, and Pokemon Unify were also presented.
- This month’s Pokemon World Championships will take place in London. It will feature Pokemon Go competitions and Pokemon Unifycompetitions. Sword & Shield and Pokken Tournament are also included. The winner will receive a sick trophy with Pikachu. I want it to be on my shelf.
- Ultra Beasts and Shaymin will be available in Pokemon Go on August 27th as part of the global Pokemon Go Fest final event. This event will also end with a storyline that involves Professor Willow.
- Pokemon Unite’sanniversary will continue with a Pikachu-centric mode called Pika Party. This will allow players to play as Pikachu during a match and includes a Gigantamax Pikachu boss character. Buzzwole joins the game today as a playable character.
- Next was Pokemon Masters. This trainer lodge update will include new content. More information will be forthcoming.
- Pokemon Café Mix is back with Mewtwo, which means you can make the most potent Pokemon serve food at a restaurant. Latias and Latios are joining the game, with the latter being available right now.
- Let’s get to the reason we came here. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is located in the region of Palden. Players can ride on the backs of Legendary Pokemon Koraidon or Miraidon to travel the open world. The trailer featured several new characters and new Pokemon. It also gave us a glimpse at the game’s gimmick.
- The trailer confirms some long-rumoured aspects of the game’s structure, including that each game will be focused on one of two schools. Scarletplayers are going to Naranja Academy. Violetplayers are going to Uva Academy. It appears that both schools will have some of the same characters. At least, the professors. Three central story pillars will be featured in the game: the gym battles, which you can challenge in any order, and two other stories that were not confirmed during the presentation.
- A few new Pokemon were also introduced during the presentation, including a Paldean Wooper (Poison/Ground), a dog-like Fidough(Fairy), and the massive Cetitan (Ice).
Some time was spent on the online cooperative, which allows up to four players to explore the Paldea region together. - The Terastallize mechanic is the new gimmick for Scarlet & Violet. This crystalizes Pokemon in Paldea, which gives them an increase in strength and possibly changes their typing. Each Pokemon found in Scarlet & Violet seems to have an inherent Terastallize type. This may be different from the Pokemon’s normal style. Examples include a Pikachu, which could transform into a flying type, or an Eevee, which could become a grass or water type.
- Similar to Dynamax raids, Sword & Shield in Sword & Shield, Scarlet & Violet will feature Tera Raids. These are cooperative battles against rare Tera-type Pokemon.
Anyone who buys Scarlet, Violet before February 28th. 2023: A Pikachu equipped with a flying Tera type will be available to those who purchase them before February 28th.
