Sims 4 Update: New Sexual Orientation Feature
Sims players enjoy making regular people they can relate to, even when they aren’t creating stunning recreations of the Love Island Villa or having werewolf graduation ceremonies.
Many have used mods to make Keanu Reynolds clones have babies. They also doubled as the only way for LGBTQIA+ gamers to duplicate their sexual and relationship preferences.
A new update in The Sims 4 will be released later this month, giving you more options regarding your sexual orientation.
Sims Players Respond Positively to a Boosted LGBTQIA+ Representation
SimGuruJessica (design lead for The Sims 4’s High School Year Expansion Pack) discussed its implementation in the dev diary announcing this update.
“As a group, we hold creativity and discovery as our core values. We strive every day for diversity, equity, inclusion, and play for our community.” They continued, “With that in mind we’re thrilled to bring the Sexual Orientation function to all Simmers.”
They also mention a recent update to how the game allows players to configure their sims pronouns as part of an ongoing effort by the LGBTQIA+ community.
SimGuruJessica stated that players wouldn’t be able to turn off the feature once it is implemented. She also said that while SimGuruJessica tries to offer players the ability to toggle certain gameplay features, LGBTQIA+ identities will always be a reality and cannot be toggled on or off.
