Arena Breakout: Infinite Review- When Things Go South, They Go South Fast

When things go wrong in Arena Breakout: Infinite, they tend to unravel quickly. This brutal extraction shooter offers 10-15 minute matches that begin with a false sense of calm—standing in a peaceful wooded area, armed with a military-grade firearm, an empty rucksack, and the hope that this will be the raid where you finally strike it rich.

The objective is simple: scavenge for loot and head for extraction, just like in the game’s obvious inspiration, Escape From Tarkov. If luck is on your side, you might take down a few players along the way, claiming their gear as your own. But if you’re not so fortunate, you could lose everything in a heartbeat. Each raid feels like a high-stakes coin flip between walking away wealthy or bleeding out in the dirt.

At its core, Arena Breakout: Infinite is about amassing wealth—money for guns, ammo, and armor. But let’s be honest, the real thrill is in the bragging rights that come with a fat stack of cash, proving you’ve got more than your friends. The loot system, gameplay mechanics, and even keybinds closely mirror those found in Tarkov, making it easy for Tarkov veterans to slip into Arena Breakout: Infinite as if it were a familiar, albeit bloody, bath.

Arena Breakout: Infinite is the PC reimagining of Arena Breakout, originally a mobile extraction shooter. Now available on PC, Infinite isn’t just competing with its mobile predecessor but also with the very game that inspired it. However, it’s not a straightforward competition. Arena Breakout: Infinite distinguishes itself with a different approach—shorter matches, smaller maps, and a generally faster pace. While the firefights are just as deadly as anything Tarkov can throw at you, they happen more frequently, making the experience feel more intense and immediate.

Despite being in early access, Arena Breakout: Infinite comes with a modest offering of three maps and a limited gear selection compared to its more established competitor. Yet, it’s already proving to be more accessible, with a decent tutorial and several quality-of-life features designed to welcome new players into the fold. But there’s a significant caveat: the game’s monetization system is problematic, and it’s something that demands further discussion.

In the unforgiving world of Arena Breakout: Infinite, things can spiral out of control in the blink of an eye. Whether you’re in it for the thrill of the loot or the bragging rights, one thing is certain—when things go south, they go south fast.
