Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has described the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 as “breathtaking” and “extraordinary” in a new interview with YouTuber Conner Mather, adding that the game will be “worth waiting for.”
This comes as fans eagerly await the next major reveal, particularly the second trailer, following the release of the first teaser back in December 2023. Officially set to launch in Fall 2025, the game has remained shrouded in secrecy, with few updates since the initial trailer drop.
Industry insider Jason Schreier recently speculated that Rockstar Games might delay GTA 6, citing the studio’s track record of pushing back previous titles like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Schreier also suggested that uncertainty around GTA 6‘s release date is causing other publishers to reschedule their major titles to avoid competing directly with the blockbuster release.
Adding to the intrigue, a Rockstar developer recently hinted during an awards speech that the studio is achieving “mind-blowing” results with the new game. The latest update to GTA Online also included an Easter egg referencing Vice City, further fueling excitement since the new installment is rumored to take place in a modernized version of that iconic location.
Despite growing concerns of a possible delay due to the studio’s silence, Zelnick’s glowing praise reaffirms high expectations for the sequel. With Rockstar’s history of delivering critical and commercial hits, Grand Theft Auto 6 is poised to dominate the gaming landscape whenever it finally launches.
