FFXIV Celebrates its Birthday with new Side Stories to Sob Over
Final Fantasy XIV adds another chapter to its vast lore collection, Tales from the Dawn. In celebration of the MMO’s ninth anniversary, the FFXIV side stories series was released. This first chapter targets those who are still in pain from Endwalker.
Before the Final Days brought about Amaurot’s sundering, and before you were ever the Warrior Of Light, there was Venat. In Tales from the Dawn, The first story of ‘The First Story. Friendship of Record, FFXIV This is a second look at the guardian of the star before she destroyed the world. It is a bittersweet look into her love for all things, her struggles, and her friendship with The Watcher.
While we won’t go into too much detail, players who are fascinated by the unbound universe will be delighted. The journey through Endwalker provided a glimpse into the Ancients’ lives before the Final Days. However, focusing on The Watcher’s reverence for Venat’s work provides a deeper understanding of the tragic soul on The Moon. I wept. (A lot).
You can make your heart break even more by reading A Friendship of Record, then speaking to The Watcher. He will mention VVenat’stea traditions.
I insist that any /FFXIV lore fiends must read all the LLodestone’sside stories collections. Each expansion adds more to the universe through these stories, and the MSQ sometimes refers to their details. IIt’squite rewarding when all the pieces fit together.
Tales from the Shadows revealed that Hythlodaeus rejected the seat of Emetselch before Endwalker. Tales from the Dragonsong War shared how FFXIV saved Estinien a decade before Heavensward. Alphinaud, Alisaeie and Louisoix are remembered in Tales from the Calamity. Some of them make me laugh out loud, while others are adorable, such as the time Tataru or Krile bothered Estinien.
You can still pre-order The Chronicles of Light through Square Enix. This book contains additional chapters not part of the LLodestone’scollection and includes illustrations created for their physical publication. Although the exclusivity is disappointing, some good context for Zeno’s characters is hidden in the collection.
I spent the afternoon with tissues, despite the FFXIV lore updates and this yyear’srising questline. Given the Patch 6 updates and what we know about SStar’sFirst Broo,d I think this game is poised to take me down.
