Konami’s Tokyo Game Show Reveal Could Reveal A Loved Retro RPG
The Tokyo Games Show will be open in just a few short weeks. It will run from 15-18 September. Fans have speculated about the possibility of the return to a “world-loved” series since Konami first announced it. Several recent leaks suggest that a Silent Hill revival is on the horizon. These images, taken by Bloober Team, are prompting many to speculate that it might be. This latest hint suggests that TGS could be connected to Konami’s retro RPGs.
Eurogamer reported that Reddit user RedditFaralai had noticed recently that Konami had renewed its trademark to Suikoden. The filing was completed on the 28th of July, 2022. It’s worth noting that the PlayStation 2 was where the last mainline Suikoden entry was published in 2006.
Suikoden v sales were slightly lower than its predecessors. This could have led to the sudden retirement of the series. The game was sold in Japan in only 194,780 copies in its first year. It was a 2D pixel art look that the franchise changed to 3D graphics with the advent of the PlayStation 2. Konami could use a different style for a possible reboot.
The news was received with great enthusiasm by fans. PonchoHobo wrote that the Suikoden series should have more success than it got, while BulkyYam4206 said, “I would buy it day one.” “I kept my PS1 copies [of the Suikoden games] because I loved them so much.” Konami will soon reveal all.
