Sid Meier’s Pirates! This 2004 adventure, strategy, and action video game were published by Atari and later by 2K Games. There are several mini-games that require different skills. The game also has a “sailing map” mode, where the player navigates the Caribbean looking for activities. To succeed in Pirates, you will need to master the sailing techniques, evasion (running away from guards), naval gunnery and turn-based strategy. You can also dance with the governor’s child, fence, strategic planning, and naval gunnery. Players can gain items and crew members that make certain mini-games less skill-dependent. However, they must choose from five skills to give them an edge in the game. The nine-number pad keys are the only controls. You can play the game using the keyboard (Numpad keys, enter) and not the control screen or start menu. The lower right corner of your screen shows a visual representation that displays the keypad and the function of each key.
