Desperados III is another in a popular tactical strategy series inspired by Commandos. However, instead of being developed by spellbound studio, German band Mimimi Productions was chosen instead as they previously produced Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun which also received positive reception.
Desperados III serves as both prequel and reboot to its series predecessor, although authors make no secret about it. John Cooper returns as John Cooper to command an outlaw band of specialists that takes part in undertaking even the most hazardous missions across Wild West terrain.
Desperados III stays true to its predecessors’ basic principles, particularly part one, offering real-time tactical strategy gameplay in which we command five man squad of specialists performing tasks on relatively small maps against outnumbered enemies requiring stealth and cunning strategies if left undetected, patrolling these maps unnoticed aided by an interface showing guard sight range.
Each squad member boasts different specializations, equipment, and abilities; available characters include Cooper (a gunslinger who can fire two weapons at once), McCoy (acting as both doctor and sniper on his team), Hector (an extraordinary hunter with great strength who traps enemies), Kate (using disguises and deception to divert opponents away) and Isabelle (voodoo priestess whose powers include mind control).
