Virtua Cop II has an Arcade and Shooter style. Three levels are included in the game, whereby player movement follows a preset path. Unlike the original Virtua Cop game, the player can choose their path from two options at some points. The player must shoot criminals before the timer runs out, and then they will shoot back. Be careful not to hit innocent bystanders.
In the background, there are a number of objects that you can break if they’re shot. Some will then reveal power-ups. In the same way as in Virtua Cop 1, players can earn bonus points by shooting an enemy’s gun to disable them, but not kill them. The multiplier increases each time the player earns points by consistently defeating opponents without shooting or taking any hits.
