Far Cry 2 is set in a Central African country engulfed in civil conflict. After the collapse of the government, two factions are now in charge: The UFLL (United Front of Liberation), led by Addi Mobantuwe as leader of opposition, and the APR (Alliance for Popular Resistance), led by Oliver Tambossa. The two factions, while clamoring to represent the residents, have displayed a lack of empathy, hostility and greed.
They also show a disregard for their people’s welfare. Both sides have employed mercenaries in order to strengthen their positions during the war. Recently, the depletion in the diamond mining industry has left the country in a state of chaos. Some mercenaries are still working without being paid and have not been able to leave the area.
