Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is an action-adventure video game Naughty Dog made and released through Sony Computer Entertainment. The game is the fourth major instalment of the Uncharted series and was made available in May 2016 for PlayStation 4.
The single-player adventure tells the story of Nathan Drake, a former treasure hunter who gets forced out of retirement by his estranged elder brother Sam to seek out Henry Avery’s treasure that was lost as he fights a mercenary band led by Rafe Adler and Nadine Ross as well as Nadine Ross who are after the treasure. This is the final game of the series that features Nathan Drake.
The development process was severely hampered in 2014 when the creative directors and lead writers Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond left Naughty Dog. They were substituted with Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, who were the directors of Naughty Dog’s first game, The Last of Us, which was cancelled or changed. The developers wanted to integrate elements of open-world games, such as more vehicles and higher areas. The stealth gameplay was improved, and multiplayer was enhanced by incorporating cooperative and competitive modes.
