Act Need for Speed Payback is set within the town that is Fortune Valley, where you have the freedom to roam around. This open world contains one of the largest areas ever seen in the series. The city is split into four areas: Silver Rock, Liberty Desert, Mount Providence, and Silver Canyon. Each area features its architectural style and scenery.
The narrative is depicted by three characters that can be played:
- Tyler Morgan – Drag Racing Specialist;
- Sean McAlister – professional drifter and off-road racer
- Jessica Miller is a girl mechanic who is capable of breaking off from police pursuits.
