FIFA Partners with Rocket League for 2024 FIFAe World Cup

World football governing body FIFA has announced its collaboration with Rocket League to include the high-octane car football game in the FIFAe World Cup this year. Sixteen nations from around the world have been invited to participate in this event. The announcement was made on X (formerly known as Twitter), where the FIFA esports account engaged fans by asking which nations they would like to see compete.

In a press release, FIFAe described this partnership as “a major step in FIFA’s commitment to embrace the entire ecosystem and drive the global growth of football esports.” This move acknowledges Rocket League as a legitimate relative of traditional football, despite its jet-powered cars, giant balls, and whimsical hats.

Each team will consist of three players and one alternate, competing in their national colors. The sixteen countries will be selected based on their representation in previous Rocket League Majors, ensuring a competitive and fair selection process.

The selected nations will host their qualification tournaments to determine the players who will represent them at the FIFAe World Cup. Interested players can sign up on FIFA’s esports platform and choose Rocket League as their preferred game at FIFA.GG.

FIFA plans to announce more details about the event and the participating associations at a later date.
